About the Website
Alsip Today originiated in blog form on February 4, 2009 with the first posting, "Kitching Skewers Collins."
The primary purpose of the Alsip Today blog was to provide a forum to distribute the message of the Alsip Coalition for
Excellence (ACE) party candidates that were slated to run in the April 2009 municipal election.
Following the election, which resulted in one of the ACE candidates getting elected as Village Trustee,
the Alsip Today blog became silent.
During the election season, it was obvious that Alsip didn't get its fair share of coverage in many of the
media outlets that would be expected to cover news and events for Alsip. Over the following summer months, an idea for an
updated version of the Alsip Today website began to take shape.
On October 30, 2009 the updated Alsip Today website went live - with a whole new look and purpose. The website will continue to
evolve as we position it to become the defacto resource for all things Alsip. We're looking to deliver a balanced and
unbiased coverage to important news and events for Alsip.
Some of the edginess of the "old" blog will certainly find its way into editorial perspectives. Readers will be able to
submit comments and suggested articles for publication - but in all cases, these will be reviewed prior to finding their
way onto one of our pages. If you're looking to read anonymous rants - you'll need to find another source.
We've got a lot of content ideas perculating that will find their way into the website. Businesses wishing to
advertise on the website are asked to use the Contact Us form (link below). Anyone interested in becoming a regular contributor to the
website should also use the Contact Us form.
